Essays 2-02b: Nice place to go for having good holiday

There is very famous for fishing spot.　That is why there are so many nice seafood restaurants in Amakusa. There are a lot of kinds of fish, so people who does fishing go there and have fun to do  fishing.

In my case, I go fishing more than four times in a month. I usually go with my father and my brother or my friend. Fishing is very interesting, so I cannot stop doing it. There are many ways of fishing. All of them have different fishing rods, hooks, reels, and settings, so I need so many tool to do fishing and cost more money. However, there are more precious thing than money for fishing.  I can say sea gives me fish and a nice day. It must be the most precious thing when I do fishing.

There are many ways that I have still never try, so I  always trying another ways to do fishing. It is very difficult to find nice place to do every way of fishing at same place. However, Oyano is that kind of place which means a place where I can do many way of fishing. There are so many varieties of fish, so we can do many kinds of way. There were used to a famous good place to go. It was honeymoon because there are full of  nature. Because of the history, there were so many inns in Amakusa, but now, they became very old, and some of them aren't run. It is rare to find someone who stays one night.

There are many seafood restaurants because there are famous for flesh fishes. There are famous for a dish called kaisendon. It is made from raw fish and rice.

I’d like to tell how to make kaisendon. First of all, you put in rice in a bowl. The next, you put on sliced row fishes. Then last, you pour in to sauce in the bowl. It is very easy to make it and eat it. First of all, put in rice in the bowl, and put on a lot of sliced raw fish. Put in soy sauce on the sliced fish and eat it. It is very easy.

Experience which I have, I have been to a restaurant once last month at Amakusa. I forgot the name of the restraint, but kaisendon at the restraint was very nice. I have never had like that flesh food. It was not cheap, but it has worth to eat. I recommend you to eat it. There are many kind of food made from fish, so every dishes are must delicious.

There are beautiful beaches, so many families go to beach to play in the sea. There are very famous beaches. The name is Yumigahama Kaisuiyokujyou. It is very beautiful because there is blue ocean and white sand. Everyone who have been may say same thing; awesome. In my case, I go there when I felt tired to do fishing. It makes me relax and refresh, so I like to go there. Actually, there is my fishing point near the beach, so very nice place to go for taking rest.

 There are very nice place to get souvenir. It is ? Amakusa Shirou memorial hall. There are many shops that sell many kinds of snack, foods, and so on. All of them taste nice and there are chikuwa. Chikuwa is made from fish, so it is ? very traditional food at Amakusa. Explains about the food, it is rolled cake made from fish. There is ?  Chikuwa factory there, so visitors can see the way of making them.

   There are many interesting things in Amakusa. You can have a good time if you go to Amakusa.So, if you have nothing to do and feel boring day,  you have to go to Amakusa and have a good time..

BR 2-07 Clever Rabbit and the Lion

 “I’m king of this jungle”

 There was a big lion. He was very big, so he thought I am a king. He was very hungry, so he tried to eat every animal. A clever rabbit came to the lion and said. You are not just lion. I’ll show you where it is. Then he went to beside the river and say, here you are. There was another lion. However it was little bit different. It was reflected water, but lion didn’t noticed and he tried to catch it. Then, he fell into the river. Animal could live safely caused by the clever rabbit.

This story is not interesting because the way to save life was too easy. I don’t recommend you to read this book.

BR 2-06 The Hare and the Tortoise

 “I must be the fastest crature in the world.”

There were Harry hare and Tom Tortoise. Harry could run fast but Tom couldn’t. One day, Harry said let’s run to the top of mountain. Then, they star to go there. At first, Harry goes far away, but Tom goes very slowly. At the middle of the way, harry felt tired, so he went to beside of a big tree and fell into sleep. Few hours later, Tom came there and go. After few hours, Harry waked up, but it was too late. Tom goaled. This was very interesting point.

Everyone know this story, but it has little difference. You may have fun by reading the book.

BR 2-05 The Dinosaur Who Lost His Roar

“This is a story about five dinosaurs”

There were five dinosaurs. Especially, a dinosaur named Sid. He can roar louder better than any other dinosaurs. That is why, he wanted to treat. He surprised his friend, so he was hated by them. Suddenly, he became no to be able to roar. One day, his friend was gone with a big stamp. He chased the stamp. Then, he found a huge dinosaur named Rex. He catch Sid’s friend. He roared for the Rex. It was super laud. Then he saved his friend. He used to be hated by his friend, but finally, he was thanked by them.

This story is nice. I thought helping own friend is very good thing.

summer homestay program

Ⅰ　Introduction

This paper researched about breakfast in Kumamoto and Minnesota. I made this report using a Google questionnaire. I asked 105 Americans and 84 Japanese. I needed to have more date, so I did questionnaire twice, once in three month and once in two month.

 

Ⅱ Results

The first question was how often Japanese and Americans usually eat breakfast. Interestingly, there was almost the same result between Kumamoto and Minnesota. Please see figs 1a and 1b. Over half eat breakfast every day, but less than half; (43 percent (Minnesota) 48 percent (Kumamoto)) do not eat breakfast. They show a result which says there are no obvious differences between Kumamoto and Minnesota. According to the graph for Minnesota, more Minnesotans eat breakfast every day than Japanese, but the gap is very small. So it seems that there is not a big difference between Kumamoto and Minnesota about eating breakfast. Please look at percentages for people who eat breakfast 2-4 times a week and almost every day. It seems students in Kumamoto skip breakfast a bit more often than students in Minnesota, but the gap is still very small.

The next question was do you ever have brunch?  People who have brunch in Kumamoto total 74% and those who have brunch every day is 16%. It shows that some people skip breakfast in Kumamoto.

The next question was about what kind of breakfast they usually eat. It may be easy to guess this result. As is well known, Americans eat cereal more often than Japanese, and Japanese eat rice more often than Americans. This suggests the results of the survey. Americans eats cereal more than Japanese, but Japanese eat rice better than Americans. However some Japanese may be surprised about the results about bread. Please see Fig 3.  Interestingly, Japanese eat bread more than Americans. It seems that eating bread at breakfast has become a very usual thing in Japan. This result may shows that culture from other countries are got into the habit by Japanese.

I can say the same thing about this result from my experiences. I usually eat bread or a rice ball every day in Japan, but when I was in Minnesota, I ate cereal, pancakes and so on. It still isn’t common in Japan to eat fruit  at breakfast, so it may rare to find someone who eats fruit at breakfast. So this point shows us one example of US food culture which is not still accepted in Japan.

Look at Fig. 4 a and b. This question waa whether they eat salad at breakfast. Then you can see interesting result. There was only one percent Americans who eat salad at breakfast. However, there are 36 percent of Japanese who eat it at breakfast. It can be soul that Japanese eat salad at breakfast instead of eating fruit like Americans.

Cereal at a store in Kumamoto, it costs double higher than that price in America: price in America is about $2 (200 yen), price in Japan is about $3 300 yen Because of the price, it may not be customary to eat cereal in Japan. The price effect may make this result. Moreover I asked “when do you eat cereal?”  Then there was very interesting result. Please look at fig 5. There are 18 people who don’t think cereal is not morning food. This different thinking made this result.

              Then I asked about when they eat breakfast. There were many differences for this answer. Please see Fig. 6. 96 percent Americans eat breakfast at 5:00-8:59, but 99 Japanese eat breakfast at 6:00-9:59. It is related to the time when their schools start. The first class of Bethel University starts earlier than at KGU (Bethel University: 07:40~, KGU: 09:00~), so Japanese don’t have to wake up and have breakfast as early as Americans. This is why there are these results. Maybe people who eat breakfast earlier than others live far away from school, so they must eat breakfast and go to school earlier than others. This thing can be said about results for both Minnesota and Japan.

The Next question was “Who do you usually eat breakfast with?” The result was almost the same. Please see Fig. 7. Almost everyone eats breakfast alone, but there are students who eat breakfast with their friends only in Minnesota. The result may suggest students in Kumamoto prefer to eat with family more than friends, because if you eat breakfast with friends, you must pay money for it at restaurants or convenience stores. Student in Kumamoto may not like to pay money too much. It may be because they want to save money.

Ⅲ　Conclusion

              When it comes to breakfast, there are many differences between Kumamoto’s students and Minnesota’s students. The time when Japanese eat breakfast is not early, because it is related by the time when their first class starts. Probably students whose first class starts late don’t eat breakfast. They have brunch, so almost do not eat breakfast is about half of all students.

On the other hand, students in Minnesota eat breakfast earlier than students in Kumamoto. The first class in Minnesota is earlier than Kumamoto’s first class, so they don’t eat brunch but breakfast. So the rate of Americans who eat breakfast every day is a little higher than students in Kumamoto.

Finally, Americans eat cereal more than bread. Japanese eat salad better than fruit at breakfast. Their result may surprise Japanese. Japanese think the typical American breakfast is French toast and milk. It can be seen as a stereotype. I am not American, so I do not know how they think about Japanese breakfasts, but there must be stereotype for Japanese breakfast, and it may amaze them to learn the differences.Almost all students both Kumamoto and Minnesota eat breakfast every day, but other students later than Minnesota do not eat breakfast every day.

BR 2-04 The Dragon Painter

“Everyone loved Chang’s pictures.”

There was a very nice painter. He can draw animals like living. A king of China call him and asked draw a nice painting on the wall. He went his house and started to draw. He drew 4 dragons, but they don’t have eyes. He didn’t draw them. He said if you draw the eyes on these dragons, they will be come up. The king didn’t like the dragons without having their eyes, so he added them. Then a big problem was happen. The dragons started to move. It attacked the village. Then the painter drew chine to stop moving the dragons. This story is interesting because this story cannot happen this real, but I can see fantasy from it. You should read it.

BR 2-03 Danny the Dragon

“This is a story about a dragon, some villagers, a salesman and a gang of robbers.”

There was a very kind dragon. He always goes to a village and helped everyone by making fire. One day, a salesman came to the Village and sold a nice item. It can make fire like that dragon. This is why villagers need not to the dragon’s help. Suddenly, a gang group came the village and robbed many things from them. The dragon hared something wrong sound, and went there to help the villagers. He fights with the gang and won. Then the dragon could get along with the villagers again. This story is not interesting because too easy to read and not interesting the context. I don’t recommend you to read it.

BR 2-02 The Sun and the Wind

“See that man? Can you take his coat off?”

This story is about fight the sun and the wind. They tried to do who can take the man’s coat off. First of all, the wind tried to do it. Then, he tried to blow, but it doesn’t make sense. The man felt cold and go into his house. After that, the sun said I try. Then, the sun make the temperature hotter and hotter. Then the man go out from his house and took off his coat because he cannot stand the hot day. This story is very unique, so interesting to read this book. The vocabulary is not difficult and easy to read. It is nice to read it.

Sometimes, I do sports. I have played two sports in my life. When I was elementary school student, I took part in soccer club. It was very interesting for me. When I was junior high school student and high school student, I took part in handball club. Every time I do sports, I need sports wears. I tried many kind of clothes; Nike, adidas, puma, kappa, and so on. I didn’t care about any brand, but when I was high school student, it was changed. When I tried to find nice ware, I found nice one. It suits me and I felt good for moving and it doesn’t feel hot unless the day was very hot summer day. Since that day, I care about which maker’s clothes I buy. Still now, I buy adidas’s clothes and wear them. Recently, I bought a pair of shoes. It was very nice too. I recommend you to buy adidas.

place to go for driving

Do you like to go for driving? I like to go for driving. I have car driving license. I got it about one year ago. I have driven many places. I’d like to talk about a place which I like to go. The place is Mt. Aso. My house is stood in Yatushiro, so it is not easy to go there because it takes more time. I went there twice. The first time was to go to Aso Firm Land. There are many interesting places. We can do many experiences at there. For example, we can make accessories, do fishing, and make plate. We don’t get boring at there. The next time, I went to Aso temple. There are many shops and nice coffee shop. There are many valuable places to go, so I can go there unless it takes more than 2 hours. I plan to go for Amakusa. There are famous for fish dishes.

Place in Minnesota

I went to Minnesota during this summer vacation. I like to go a park nearby Mississippi river. There are many animals. There are birds, squirrel, and so on. The view of Mississippi river from the park is very nice because the water is bright by reflect sun shine. At the park, you can do barbeques, so I and my host father and host mother did it. We made hotdog. It was very nice. Taste and atmosphere were super nice. I took many pictures at the park. I cannot say anything when I saw sunset from the park. Everything turned red. I and host mother and host father cannot move from there. At the park, there are many children, so there are full of smiles. I became like to go there, so I went there three times. It is very valuable place for me. I cannot forget about memories at the park.
